Community
|
|
| We are a part of our community and our community is part of our
lives. This concept, this belief, this philosophy is a style
of life that not only pervades our school, but is a vital goal for all our
students as they develop and mature into adulthood. |
 |
 |
Whether classes are going out into the neighborhood, taking advantage of the
numerous educational opportunities, whether community members bring programs
and information into our building, whether we raise funds for national
organizations such as St. Judes Children's Research Hospital, the American
Heart Association or Easter Seals, whether we are involved in our monthly
collections of food or clothing for our local population, our children are
receiving the message that we do not live in isolation and that there is a
responsibility that goes along with all of our opportunities in life.
|
| Our now annual yard sale, recycling programs, and other projects are
ongoing. The New Windsor Optimist Club, a service organization, has
chartered the first New York State student Alpha Club at Windsor Academy.
Many of our older students are part of this student service group. |
 |
 |
We are involved with the Newburgh Free Public Library as well as the Karpeles
Document Museum. Community Service projects such as the State Farm Car
Safety Seat Inspection Day or the Ident-A-Kid program, which are open to the
community at large, are part of our commitment to give back.
|
|
We are a training site for a variety of college programs and for students at our
local high school. Windsor Academy is a microcosm of our children's
future. We want to instill a sense of pride, a sense of decency, a sense
of commitment. We are all interdependent on one another and we need to
appreciate, support, and celebrate each other's struggles and triumphs.
